Solo Dev & AI Pair-Programming
Building an entire multi-module application, a custom map stack, GitOps manifests, and documentation site as a solo developer requires an effective force multiplier. My force multiplier is AI pair-programming.
How I Work with AI
- Architectural Control Remains Mine: I define system boundaries, choose technology stacks, write Architectural Decision Records (ADRs), and enforce coding standards. AI acts as an execution partner, not an unsupervised decision maker.
- Context & Memory matter: Rather than starting every conversation from scratch, I equipped my AI pair programmer with a persistent memory system, explicit journal rules, and specialized task skills.
- Verification over Trust: Every line of generated code, manifest update, or refactoring step is compiled, unit-tested, and verified before being merged into main repositories.
Multiplying Solo Output
Having an autonomous agent capable of grinding through boilerplate, writing unit tests, and restructuring documentation enables me as a solo developer to ship features at a velocity that would typically require a small engineering team. It frees me to focus entirely on strategy, design, and user experience.
